For a smoother, safer drive you car needs to be balanced.

A fully balanced car is exactly what you want you car to ride on the road like as much as you can.

While the car is fully balanced, you have even weight distribution across the whole car.
The ONLY items keeping you car in contact with the road are your tyres, therefore you want an even amount of traction from all of them at the same time.
The second you start losing traction your risk of losing control of the car becomes greater.

When a car accelerates heavily, weight is distributed to the rear wheels

This in turn reduces the level of traction to the road at the front wheels

Heavy braking has the opposite effect on the car and distributes all the weight to the front wheels

This lightens the rear of the car and gives you less traction at the rear.

When cornering at speed or heavily weight is distributed from one side of the car to the other side

This in turn reduces traction from the opposite side of the car

For an average sized car, the amount of tyre tread actually in contact with the road's surface is about the size of an adults palm!

You only have 4 tyres, and the less traction you have to the road the bigger the chance of losing control of your car

How can i keep maximum traction to the road

By ensuring that you carrying out any necessary braking BEFORE a bend, to a speed suitable for the tightness of the bend you will have more traction.

By ensuring you do not accelerate heavily when moving off, you will have more traction.

By not braking heavily in any situation, you will have more traction.

The worst way to reduce the amount of traction you have to the roads' surface,
is to be braking heavily and cornering at the same time or accelerating heavily and cornering at the same time.
