Where making driving lessons fun can really pay off!
#Gamification
noun
1. the application of typical elements of game playing (e.g. point scoring, competition
with others, rules of play) to other areas of activity, typically as an online marketing technique
to encourage engagement with a product or service.
"gamification is exciting because it promises to make the hard stuff in life fun"
Used correctly can be a great tool to hit home certain skills that a pupil may not be getting. Can be used as an alternative way to build on other skills.
But the main purpose of them is to introduce an air of fun to your lessons so as not to create a stale same old same old style lesson.
It may be that your pupil's are ready for their driving test but due to the massive backlog, are finding that continuing lessons are not achieving them anything and lessons are becoming very droll and boring.
Sprucing those lessons up, invigorating your pupil's to try something new, can reinvigorate them, inspire them, challenge them above and beyond what they ever thought they may do during their learning program.
It may even set you apart from other instructors in your area who don't bring a little fun into their lessons.
Now, before we go in any further regarding Gamification, this IS NOT ABOUT DRIVING IN AN UNSAFE OR IRRESPONSIBLE MANNER!
It is purely about thinking outside of the box to making things flipped on their head from the stigma of what most would expect driving lessons to be.
Especially with the introduction of coaching rather than teaching. The stigma of an old man or lady spouting instructions at the pupil to do this, do that, do as I say and not as I do, blah blah blah, all very regimental like.
We can show that the industry is not like that anymore, and that driving instructors do have a fun side to them.
Just because they are having fun with their pupils, it does not mean they cannot be serious and professional at the same time.
Gamification can be created in many different ways, and as long as learning takes place there is really no harm in doing so.
