Listed above are just some that are offering commission, but no doubt there are many more.
It usually takes just a few minutes to sign up. The sign up costs you nothing, you are usually supplied leaflets for free that you can hand to your pupil when they start learning with you, and for every pupil that signs up you receive commission from that insurance company. even if it is just one or two a year that sign up, it's money you have earnt for doing nothing.
Be honest with your pupils and NEVER force them to take out insurance with these companies, just use the facility to give your pupils an awareness of companies they might want to look at that offer learner insurance.
The more companies you sign up with the better it is for you to open a pathway for your learners, and by having more, it doesn't make it look like you are forcing your pupil down a one way path. They will have the freedom of choice.
You get a little surprise every now and then when a deposit is made into your bank account from one of the companies.
The number of Driving instructor insurance companies is a very limited market and lately the pricing for insurance has sky rocketed.
They will all tell you it's to do with inflation, but recently, rises have been in excess of 60% on the previous years premium.
This will probably continue to rise with the ever increasing price of newer and especially electric vehicles. (mainly because they cost so much more and are being written off for just small bumps)
Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do about it other than allow our pricing for lessons to reflect our overheads over the year.
Be sure to include the price rises within your hourly rate and not just take it on the chin. The industry has for many years been held up in the stone ages with its pricing. For decades the price for driving lessons was stagnant causing instructor to do lots of hours to make a decent living. Covid woke everyone up to this and instructor realised that the pricing structures need to change. As an average, lesson prices have risen to a more realistic price to meet inflation, but unless instructors review their pricing year on year to match inflation, there will come a time that they end up fixed again. The only people who suffer when this happens are the instructors, as they struggle to make ends meet and work more and more hours.
The list below are a current list at the time of writing, of insurance companies whom offer driving instructor insurance.
We do not endorse any of them but highly recommend that you do your research between them all to get yourself the best deal to meet your needs.
